The NKHS Comfort Crew
At Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS), two therapy dogs—Mildred and Truman—are transforming the way emotional and mental health support is delivered. Mildred, a gentle rescue pup based at the Children and Youth Center in Lyndonville, helps children open up in therapy by offering unconditional love and calm companionship. Truman, working in the Adult Outpatient office in St. Johnsbury, offers comfort and emotional support to adults navigating difficult conversations. Both dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs of Vermont and support not only clients but also staff, helping reduce stress and promote emotional resilience. Read how these four-legged team members are creating a compassionate, healing environment across NKHS.
